Police in Kano State said yesterday they intercepted a consignment of suspected intoxicants valued at N82.7 million in a vehicle parked at a residence in Rimin Auzinawa Quarters in Kano.

Spokesman of the command Abdullahi Kiyawa in a statement said they received credible information on the suspicious vehicle carrying cartons of the suspected intoxicants, and acting on the directive of the commissioner of police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, officers moved to the location, cordoned off the house and arrested 19-year-old suspect, Usman Umar.

According to him, a search of the premises led to the recovery of 603 packets of suspected Tramadol tablets (60,300 pieces) valued at N60.3 million and 299 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules (44,850 pieces) valued at N22.4 million, putting a total street value of the seizure at N82.7 million.

“This successful operation highlights the Command’s commitment to eradicating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in Kano State.

The suspect is currently helping investigation to uncover the network behind this illegal trade and bring all culprits to justice,” he stated.
