Police Kill 2 Terrorists, Recover 2 Rifles In Katsina

Katsina State police command said its men succeeded in repelling attack at Yasore village of Batsari local government area of the state, killing two terrorists and recovering two AK47 rifles.

In a statement signed by the command spokesman, Gambo Isah and made available to LEADERSHIP Friday yesterday it explained that the command received a distress call of terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, and attacked Yasore village, Batsari LGA of Katsina State.

He added that the DPO Batsari Division led a combined team of police and vigilante group to the area, and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them.

“In the course of scanning the scene, the team recovered the followings: two corpses of neutralized terrorists, two 47 rifles, five AK 47 rifle magazines. Ninety-seven pieces of 7.62mm ammunition of AK 47 rifles, two ITEL GSM Phones, a bunch of criminal charms, a black bag containing the sum of two thousand, five hundred and eighty thousand naira (N2,580), a lighter, a pen and a blue veil.

“Many of the terrorists were reasonably believed to have been neutralized and/or escaped the scene with gunshot wounds.  Search parties are combing the nearest bushes with a view of arresting them and/or recovering their dead bodies”, the statement stated.

The command, therefore, appealed to members of the communities around the area to report to the nearest police station any person found or seen with a suspected injury.

The state commissioner of police, in charge of elections, CP Koo Yusuf, commended the efforts of the police and the vigilante in dealing with the hoodlums.
