Spokesman of the Command, Sadiq Abubakar, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP on Saturday, said while the operatives succeeded in foiling the kidnapping attempt, three notorious bandits were also neutralised during the encounter.

“On June 7, 2024, at about 19:23 hrs, information was received at the Sabuwa Divisional Police Headquarters that armed bandits in their numbers, wielding dangerous weapons, attacked Duya Village, Maibakko Ward, Sabuwa LGA and kidnapped a number of women,” Abubakar said.

On receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Aliyu Mustapha, in collaboration with members of the vigilante, mobillised a team of operatives to the scene.

The statement noted that the bandits opened fire on the security operatives team upon sighting the team, which was responded gallantly and successfully, leading to the thwarting of the kidnapping attempt.

“In the course of scanning the scene, the body of three neutralised suspected bandits were recovered from the scene,” it added

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Abubakar Musa commended the operatives for their exceptional display of bravery and gallantry, reiterating the command’s commitment towards ensuring the safety of the people in the state.
