Police Kill Alia’s Kinsman Abductors, Rescue Victim

In less than 24 hours in the kidnappers’ den, the Benue Police Command, through an intense operation, has rescued Emmanuel Tor Yaji, the home leader of the Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia.

Yaji was kidnapped in his hometown, Tsar Mbaduku, while relaxing with his friends on Monday.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, disclosed in a statement, “Following the reports of the kidnapping of Tor Yaji in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State, an intense rescue operation was launched, which led to the rescue of the victim.”

According to her, “On 31/12/2024, at about 1300 hours, the police team in Kwande Local Government Area located the kidnappers in Nambe Adikpo town and engaged them in a gun battle. One of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries and was eventually confirmed dead by a doctor.”

She stated, “One of the suspects was also arrested while two others fled. Further investigations to apprehend the suspects at large are ongoing.”
