Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have gunned down one suspected kidnapper and arrested one other suspect while they also recovered arms in the state.
Police said the coordinated operation was carried out by its operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, in conjunction with hunters when they raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout located at the Holma Mountains in Song local government area of the state
On sighting the operatives, the armed criminals opened fire in an attempt to resist arrest.
However, during the ensuing gun duel, one of the kidnappers was neutralised, while others escaped with bullet wounds.
One suspect, identified as Mohammed Sale, was however arrested.
Weapons recovered from the scene of the arrest included one AK-47 rifle, two locally made guns and five rounds of AK-47 live ammunition.
The arrested suspect is currently in custody of the Nigerian Police where he is providing useful information to aid the ongoing investigations.
Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Dankombo Morris, commending the swift response of the operatives and the local security partners, urged them to sustain collaboration to flush out criminal elements and ensure the safety of all residents.
He added that investigations are ongoing, while calling on the public to report any suspicious persons, especially those with bullet wounds.
