Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command has launched manhunt for abductors of a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Basil Chukwuemeka.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the Catholic priest was abducted at about 8am on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, along the Eke Nkpor-Obosi Bypass in Idemili North local government area of the state.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Ikenga Tochukwu said the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam addressed the authorities of the Archdiocese of the Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province where he assured them their priest would certainly be rescued unhurt and his abductors arrested for face the full weight of the law.

Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke appealed to Catholic faithful and people of goodwill to earnestly pray for the quick and safe release of Rev. Fr. Chukwuemeka.
