The Sokoto State Police Command has presented a cheques of over N33 million to the families of deceased police officers as part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Week.

The event is part of week-long activities in the state, ahead of the grand finale scheduled to hold at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

A total sum of N33,989,615.15 was presented to eight beneficiaries, as part of efforts to support families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

During the presentation, the Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, described the occasion as both solemn and significant, noting that it reflects the commitment of the Force leadership to the welfare of its personnel and their families.

He assured the beneficiaries that the Nigeria Police Force stands with them and will continue to provide support.

In a vote of thanks, one of the beneficiaries, Gadi Talatu, speaking on behalf of the others, expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Sokoto State Police Command for their support.

She noted that the gesture would go a long way in assisting the families and prayed for continued strength and success for the Nigeria Police Force.

The commissioner stated that the sacrifices of fallen officers remain invaluable and will never be forgotten. He encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support provided, while assuring them that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to stand by them.
