In an ongoing crackdown on criminal activities, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists and recovered weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, during a routine patrol in Uyo, the state capital.

The suspects, identified as Joshua Benjamin and Kingsley Friday Michael, were apprehended in the early hours of October 2, 2025, while loitering near Abolin Junction on Idoro Road. The police also seized a fabricated AK-47 rifle, a jackknife, and other items.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Timfon John, the suspects were unable to explain their presence or provide identification. They claimed to be security guards, but failed to present any evidence supporting their claim.
