The Police command in Nasarawa State said it has detained two suspects for allegedly vandalising electric cables and poles, at Karu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Lafia.
The PPRO said that a patrol team attached to the Gitata Division of Karu, apprehended two suspects in connection with the vandalism, while on routine patrol along the Gitata–Gunduma Road on Friday, March 6, at about 5:40 p.m.
He said that the suspects aged 41 and 45 years respectively, were both from Jikwoyi, FCT in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
The spokesperson explained that iron cutters, pliers, spanners, electric cables, and one grey Hyundai Sonata with registration number GWA 44 PM, used in conveying the vandalised items, were recovered as exhibits.
The command said that the commissioner of police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for discreet investigation and prosecution.
