Police Nab 3 Suspected Armed Robbers In Bauchi

A 40-year-old Suleiman Adamu popularly known as ‘Baba Mai Ruwa’ of Sabon Layi area has been apprehended by operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command for alleged armed robbery.

Adamu was arrested during a raid in Sabon Layi by a patrol team attached to the ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters.

During the operation, the team recovered a locally-made revolver, 8 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and three expended ammunition of the same calibre.

Two motorcycle number plates were also found in the possession of the suspect.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil in a statement on Saturday, said preliminary investigation led to the arrest of another suspect named Adamu Sale (aka Dogo), a 30-year-old resident of Rafin Makaranta area.

Police investigation further revealed that Dogo was involved in a series of armed robberies in Zaranda Village of Toro local government area of the state.

Wakil added that the suspects confessed to using the locally-made firearm to rob three motorcycles and sold one of the stolen motorcycles to one Jibrin Mohammed, a 30 years of age of Railway Area Bauchi.

“Jibrin confessed that after purchasing the first stolen motorcycle, the owner confronted him, and the matter was resolved privately.

“He further disclosed that he purchased the second motorcycle for N70,000 and later sold it for N80,000 to scrap metal buyers,” the statement said.

Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed has directed thorough investigation into the syndicate to identify additional suspects and also recover other stolen motorcycles.
