The Cross River State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with an alleged case of conspiracy and kidnapping in Yahe community, Yala local government area of Cross River Sate.

The suspects were identified as Adedeji Goodluck (21), Sylvester Akpa (20), Chinonso Nwibo Emmanuel (25) and Richard Innocent (22), all of no fixed address.

The suspects were arrested after a tip-off from a Good Samaritan led to a rescue operation by a local vigilante group.

Police sources told LEADERSHIP that Chinonso Emmanuel allegedly lured Adedeji Goodluck from Abuja to Yahe community, where he was latter held captive and a ransom of N7 million was demanded from the victim’s parents.

The suspects allegedly threatened to kill the victim for ritual purposes if the ransom was not paid.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects held a meeting and subsequently kidnapped Adedeji Goodluck, holding him captive while making phone calls to his parents in Abuja to demand a ransom,” police source maintained.

The victim has so far been rescued unhurt and is currently under protective custody, while the suspects are in police custody.
