Police Parade Medical Director For Alleged Rape, 11 Others For Robbery, Cultism

The Kwara State Police Command on Thursday paraded 12 criminal suspects, including a medical director for offences ranging from rape, armed robbery, cultism and rituals.

The police paraded the chief medicaldirector of Ayodele Hospital, Sawmill area, Ilorin, Dr Ayodele  Joseph for allegedly raping his patient who incidentally is a nurse.

Parading the suspects, the state police commissioner, Mr Paul Odama, said the medical director perpetrated the heinous act on May 5, 2023.

“On the 5th of May, 2023, one female victim (name withheld) a nurse by profession reported to the Police that she went to Ayodele Hospital at NO. 290, Sawmill Area, Lagos Road, Ilorin for surgery.The chief medical director of the hospital, one Dr. Ayodele Joseph during the treatment sedated the patient which led her to become unconscious. Before the sedation, fearing any mishap, the patient activated her telephone and placed in a vantage position to record the surgery unknown to the doctor, before the expected surgery.

“She woke up from sleep after the surgery to find herself fully naked, and when viewing the recorded video, she discovered that the said Dr. Ayodele Joseph had an unlawful sexual intercourse with her while under sedation. Investigation led to the recovery of the video recording of the sexual action of the said doctor on the victim which was also corroborated by the medical examinations conducted on the victim.

“This same suspect (Dr. Ayodele Joseph) had of recent been arraigned in court by the police for the offences of criminal conspiracy, negligent conduct, causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others and culpable homicide arising from his unprofessional conduct resulting in the death of one Nneka Akanike ‘F’ in his hospital under a questionable circumstances which led to him being charged to court. He would be charged to court again for rape after conclusion of investigation,” the police commissioner stated.

He also paraded Olaoye Oladapo and Isaac Idowu and others at large for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

He said investigation revealed that the suspects were  members of a notorious robbery gang terrorising some parts of the state and of the habit of shooting their victims to death during such operations.

Similarly, Odama paraded five suspects including two females for allegedly being members of secret cult and belonging to gang of thieves.

The suspects are Aluku Ridwan ‘M’, Kabiru Fatai ‘M’,Saadu Alubu ‘M’, Aminah Muhammed ‘F’ and  Zainab Lawal ‘F’.

He said exhibits recovered from the suspects included dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, quantity of hard drugs suspected to be ‘ICE’ and two knives.

The duo of Adeniyi Wasiu ‘m’( 27) years and Habeeb Morufu ‘m’ ( 27 )years were paraded for criminal conspiracy and being in possession of psychotropic drugs and substance.

Substances suspected to be illicit drugs recovered by the detectives from the suspects included some weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, some sachets of tramadol, eight bottles of codeine syrup, some sachets of ice, one sachet of refnol, some sachets of colorado and some sachets of skunk.

Also paraded were three suspected ritualists- Mahmud Abdulraheem ‘m’ of Egbejila, Ilorin who is an berbalist,  Abubakar Bamidele ‘m’ of Lagos and Odekunle Fawad ‘m’ of Lagos.

The police commissioner said the  suspects would be charged to court after investigations on all cases.
