The Taraba State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has presented a cheque of N40.389 million as welfare package to families of officers who died in active service.

The state commissioner of police, CP Betty Otimenyin, presented the cheque to the deceased families, saying that, the gesture reflected the unwavering commitment of the Force, under the leadership of the inspector-general of police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun to the welfare of its personnel and their dependents.

This was contained in a press statement issued to newsmen by ASP Ishaku Mshelizah, the

acting command’s spokesperson in Jalingo, the state capital.

He quoted the CP as describing the fallen officers as “brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to safeguard life and property.”

Mshelizah said the Force remains resolute in its efforts to implement welfare programmes, which prioritise the well-being of officers and their families.

The statement read in part: “These officers gave everything for peace and order.
