The Bauchi State Police Command has launched investigation into the mysterious death of a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Dambam local government area.

The deceased, identified as 28-year-old Nwokedi Chukwuebuka was found lifeless in his apartment in the early hours of Sunday, August 10, 2025.

According to police, the accommodation had been provided for corps members and the Corps Liaison Officer (CLO).

Confirming the incident to LEADERSHIP on Tuesday, spokesperson of Bauchi Police Command, CSP Ahmed Wakil, said the Command received a distress call at about 9:20 a.m. from the CLO, who reported that Chukwuebuka, with state code number BA/25A/2069, did not wake up as other Christian corps members in the community prepared for Sunday service.

“The CLO went to wake him up but found that he was not breathing. He immediately reported the matter to the Dambam Divisional Police Headquarters,” Wakil said.

Following directives from the Bauchi Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori-Aliyu, the Divisional Police Officer led a team to the scene.

Chukwuebuka was rushed to a nearby hospital, where a medical doctor pronounced him dead.

His remains were later deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Azare, in accordance with standard procedures.
