Police Probe Disappearance Of Baby From Bauchi Hospital

Police In Bauchi State said they are investigating the disappearance of Muhammad Ibrahim, an eight days old twin baby, from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi.

The baby was said to have disappeared after his mother left him on bed while she was outside with his twin brother.  The ward head of Buzaye, Malam Adamu Haruna, said they were suspecting a certain woman who disguised as a member of staff of the hospital on the disappearance of the baby.

He said since the incident, the woman did not appear in the hospital again.

He said; “The woman spent days visiting the hospital, interacting with the mother of the missing baby before taking advantage of her.”

He said the matter was reported to the Bauchi State Police Command whose spokesman, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the incident.

“We have commenced investigation in earnest to arrest the person or persons suspected to have been involved in the incident of a missing twin baby at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.

“The missing baby by name Muhammed Ibrahim had only spent eight days in the hospital before the incident,” he said.

The chairman, medical advisory committee of the hospital, Dr. Haruna Liman, also confirmed the incident,  saying it was an “unfortunate development.”
