Adamawa State Police Command has begun investigation into the alleged shooting of one Ibrahim Usman, aged 35, of Mujara, Mubi South LGA, by a stray bullet reportedly discharged by a patrol team of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
The police public relations officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, in a statement he issued in Yola yesterday, said the police were investigating the tragic incident.
Yahaya said the incident occurred on Wednesday at at 1600hrs.
“Upon receipt of the distress call, officers from ADSU Gude Divisional Police headquarters, led by the DPO responded promptly. The victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, where he was later confirmed dead.”
He said the commissioner of police, Dankombo Morris, has notified relevant Customs authorities and detailed operatives to discreetly investigate and report back to him.
The command assured members of the public that justice will be served, and the outcome of the investigation will be communicated in due course.
