A statement signed by the command’s spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, said they also recovered 20 rustled cows during the operation carried out based on a distress call that the terrorists on motorcycles were shooting sporadically in the community.

He said; “On receipt of the information, the Area Commander, Dutsinma, ACP Mohammad Makama, led a team that blocked their exit route at Gandun Sarki village, engaged them in a fierce gun duel and successfully rescued all the 21 kidnapped victims and recovered 20 rustled cows.

“Many terrorists were killed and some escaped with gunshot wounds.  Tactical teams are still combing the area to recover their dead bodies and/or arrest the injured terrorists.  Investigation is ongoing.”
