The operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have rescued a kidnap victim, Haruna Ahmadu, from the den of kidnappers in a forest in Omu-Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun local government area of the State.
The policemen also arrested two suspected kidnappers, Ayisa Ibrahim and Yakubu Hassan in the area.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, who announced the breakthrough in a statement on Thursday, said efforts were ongoing to arrest some fleeing suspected kidnappers in the area.
Ejire-Adeyemi added: “Acting on credible intelligence, a combined team of police operatives and vigilante group rescued one Haruna Ahamadu unhurt from kidnappers’ den in Omu-Aran forest. Two suspects, Ayisa Ibrahim (female) and Yakubu Hassan (male), are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
”The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo commended the professionalism and dedication of the officers involved, assuring members of the public that the Command remains fully committed to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of all residents. He further reiterated that investigations are progressing steadily with promising leads already being pursued.
”The Command acknowledges the purposeful leadership and strategic direction of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, whose policing vision continues to strengthen operational efficiency and inspire proactive crime-fighting efforts nationwide.”
