The operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command yesterday announced the rescue of a three-day-old baby boy who was recently abducted from a residence in Unguwan Bako, Orange Market in Karu local government area of the state on March 29.

Our correspondent gathered that two suspects, all females, have been arrested in connection with the crime.

They include 35-year-old Furera Abdulrahman of Rugan Juli and 39-year-old Sadiya Abdullahi of Unguwan Bako, Orange Market, all in Mararaba, Karu local government area.

According to the command’s spokesman, SP Ramhan Nansel, the three-day old baby was abducted from a resident of the area.

He said two unidentified men broke into the house, threatened the mother of the baby, 19-year-old Mrs  Aisha Bada  with violence and abducted the child.

The mother later reported the incident to  the police in the area.

The police said, “Upon receipt of the report,  The commissioner of police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, directed detectives of Mararaba ‘A’ Division to immediately visit the scene, and ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident.

“Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives on 3rd April 2026 at about 0400 hours arrested two suspects: Furera Abdulrahman, 35 years, of Rugan Juli, and Sadiya Abdullahi, 39 years, of Unguwan Bako, Orange Market. The abducted baby boy was found in their possession and successfully rescued.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and implicated an accomplice who is currently at large, to carry out the abduction. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

“The rescued baby was immediately taken to the Medical Centre, Mararaba, where he was examined by a medical doctor, certified to be in good health, and subsequently discharged. The child has since been reunited with his parents.”
