The Police in Nasarawa State have rescued three kidnapped victims in Lafia local government area of the state.
The victims, two females and a male were rescued from Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages by the Assakio Division of the State Police Command.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the operation was carried out in collaboration with local vigilantes.
SP Nansel told journalists in Lafia on Friday that the victims were rescued, medically examined and reunited with their families.
Giving details of the abduction and eventual rescue, SP Nansel explained that the operation followed a complaint lodged at the division by some community members that suspected kidnappers invaded Angara village and abducted two females, leaving behind an infant, and later kidnapped another male in the same village.
“Acting on this information, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately ordered a manhunt for the perpetrators, which culminated in the successful arrest of the suspects and the rescue of the victims.
“The suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on the directive of the Commissioner of Police for thorough investigation and prosecution.
“The Commissioner of Police has further assured the good people of Nasarawa State of the Command’s sustained onslaught against all forms of criminality across the state,” he stated.
