Katsina State Police Command has foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued four victims, including three women and a baby girl in Mazare Village of Sabuwa local government area of the state.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, June 18th, 2025.
“At approximately 12:21am, the Sabuwa Divisional Police Office received a distress report about an attack on Mazare Village by armed bandits, who shot and injured two residents, Sa’idu Isa, 37, and Sa’idu Wa’alam, 61 before abducting four victims.
“Swiftly responding to the report, the Divisional Police Officer led a team of operatives to the scene.
“A fierce gun duel ensued, forcing the heavily-armed bandits to flee the area, overpowered by the superior firepower of the police.”
Aliyu said the four abducted victims were safely rescued unharmed, while the injured villagers were rushed to the hospital where they were reportedly responding well to treatment.
Commissioner of Police of the Command, CP Bello Shehu, commended the bravery and professionalism of the operatives involved in the rescue operation.
CP Shehu reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
He further called on residents to continue supporting the police by providing timely information on any suspicious movements or criminal activities, assuring that swift action would always be taken to safeguard communities.
The CP added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects as investigations continue.
