Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have rescued five students of the Rivers State University, who were kidnapped on Monday by suspected cultists.
The students, including Prince London ‘M’, Azubuike Kelechukwu ‘M’, Elizabeth Aniete ‘F’, Onyebuchi Precious ‘M’, and London Sampson ‘M’, all of the Emohua campus of the university, were kidnapped in an isolated area of Rumuocha/Rumuohia community in Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, said the victims were rescued at Rumudogo 2 community in Emohua LGA by tactical teams of the command in collaboration with other security agencies.
Iringe-Koko stated that while the victims had been taken to the hospital for medical examination, intensive efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest their fleeing abductors.
“The Rivers State Police Command wishes to inform the public that on 04/12/2025 at about 0100hrs, the five abducted victims, who were abducted by yet-to-be-identified cultists from their isolated residences, have been successfully rescued unhurt.
“The rescue operation was conducted at Rumudogo 2 Community in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State by the Command’s Tactical Teams, in collaboration with other sister security agencies and with the support of the community.
“The rescued victims have been taken to the hospital for medical examination. Intensive efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing cultists/abductors,” the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, vowed not to rest until all those responsible for the criminal act were arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
He further called for continued collaboration from sister security agencies, the community, and the general public, while assuring residents that they could go about their lawful businesses without fear, and that their safety is the priority of the police.
