Katsina State Police Command said its troops have rescued five kidnapped victims and arrested two suspected bandits during operation.

A statement issued by the state police spokesman, Gambo Isah, explained that the troops responded to a distress call that terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked Unguwar Rinji, Ruwayu village, Kurfi local government area and kidnapped one Alhaji Ali and four others.

It added that the DPO in charge of Kurfi led a tactical team to block the exit route of the terrorists and in the spur of the moment, engaged the terrorists in a fierce gunfight where they successfully repelled them.

He said, ” The team succeeded in rescuing all the kidnap victims. In the course of scanning the scene, it was reasonably believed that many terrorists escaped the scene with gunshot wounds.”

The spokesman said based on credible intelligence, the command also succeeded in arresting two suspected terrorists and recovered eight rustled cows and two sheep.

“Nemesis caught up with the duo of one Rabiu Umar, aged 25yrs of Salihawa village, Matazu LGA, and  Surajo Lawal, alias ‘ORI, aged 30yrs of Rimin Kanwa village, in possession of 8 rustled cows and 2 sheep at Gidan Kanya, Sukuntani village, Kankia, property of one Abubakar Amadu,  of Tafashiya village, Kankia.
