A three years old boy stolen from Anambra State has been recovered by the Police in Lagos State.
A team of detectives attached to the Gender Unit of the state Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Anambra State Police Command rescued the stolen child.

The public relations officer of the state police command (PPRO), superintendent of police, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who broke the news of the child’s rescue to newsmen on Sunday, said that five suspects had been arrested in connection with the stealing of the child.

He said the commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ikioye Orutugu, had ordered the team of the command’s detectives to go in search of the boy and those who stole him, following a complaint received by the command on the sudden disappearance of the child on November 4, 2025.

The command’s spokesman, Ikenga, said the child’s grandmother reported the child’s disappearance to the command.

Narrating the grand-mother’s account, the Police said the mother of the child had left the boy in the care of one Samuel Ibe, while she went to her shop.

Ibe, according to the Police, is from Umusiome area of Nkpor, Idemili-North local government area of the state.

“She said that upon her return, her daughter discovered that Samuel had disappeared with the three years old child,” the Police spokesman said.

Ikenga said that upon the Police search for the stolen boy, Samuel Ibe, was arrested, and, based on his confession his (Samuel’s) mother, Agatha Ejeweh aged 35 years old, and his younger brother, Ejeweh Chigozie Chidera aged 15 years were arrested.

Also, one Angela Eze, aged 30 years old based in Enugu State was later arrested for collaborating with one Juliet Onah in facilitating the transfer of the stolen child to Lagos.
Ikenga said, following credible information, the Police traced the child to Lagos State where the child was eventually secured by a team of detectives, who arrested another suspect whose name the Police spokesman gave as China Cosmas.

Ikenga said the child had since been reunited with his family in sound health.

He further said the suspects would be charged to Court as soon as the Police completed investigation into the case.

He also said that the state commissioner of police had assured residents of the state that his command was determined to make the state “unsafe for criminals”.
