The Adamawa State Police Command has secured the conviction of three persons for criminal trespass, house-breaking and theft, assisting in the concealment of stolen property and receiving stolen property.

The case followed a complaint lodged by Ahmad Aliyu of Jimeta, who reported that one John Ishaya allegedly broke into his residence at about 3am and stole a laptop, power bank and two pairs of jumpers valued at N300,000.

During investigation, Muhammadu Hassan of Yelwa Ward was found to have assisted in concealing and selling the stolen items to Abdul’aziz Hassan of Rumde Ward.

The First Information Report (FIR) was read to the defendants before Chief Magistrate Court 3, Yola, and they all pleaded guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Umar Abdullahi, called two witnesses – the nominal complainant and the Investigating Police Officer, and tendered the recovered exhibits.

The court convicted and sentenced John Ishaya to a 3-year-imprisonment without an option of fine for house breaking, and 7 years imprisonment without an option of fine for theft in a dwelling house. The sentences are to run concurrently while Muhammadu Hassan bagged 7 years imprisonment without an option of fine for assisting in the concealment of stolen property.

Similarly, Abdul’aziz Hassan, got 7 years imprisonment without an option of fine for dishonestly receiving stolen property.

The Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, commended the judiciary for the dispensation of justice and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to diligent investigation and prosecution of criminal cases.

He further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the Police.
