The Benue State Police Command has disclosed that plans were underway to carry out awareness and educational programmes on cultism and violence to schools in the state during its maiden National Police Day scheduled to hold on 7th April, 2025.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Catherine Anene who made this known in a statement, also said the police will organise sanitation exercise within communities and hold town hall meeting to engage stakeholders in discussions towards improving policing in the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Office (PPRO), the day will be used to commemorate the selfless services and value that police officers add to the society.
“Activities for the celebration include medical outreach, awareness and educational programmes in schools on cultism and violence extremism, sanitation within communities and a town hall meeting to engage our esteemed stakeholders in discussions that will improve policing in Benue State, among other.
“In recognition of persons who have supported the command to attain this height, the CP Steve Yabanet has expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Benue state Hyacinth Alia for his endless support to the command,” the PPRO said.
She further quoted the CP as appreciating traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, youth leaders and other stakeholders who have been of immense support to the Command.
