The Benue State Police Command has disclosed that plans are underway to carry out awareness and educational programmes on cultism and violent extremism in schools in the state during the celebration of its maiden National Police Day scheduled for April 7.
The state’s police spokesperson, Catherine Anene made this known in a statement, adding that sanitation within communities and a town hall meeting to engage esteemed stakeholders in discussions that will improve policing in Benue State would also be top on the agenda.
The day, according to the PPRO, commemorates the selfless services and value that police officers have added to the society.
She said, “Activities for the celebration include medical outreach, awareness and educational programmes in schools on cultism and violence extremism, sanitation within communities and a town hall meeting to engage our esteemed stakeholders in discussions that will improve policing in Benue State, among others.
“In recognition of persons who have supported the command to attain this height, the CP has expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Benue State Hyacinth Alia for his endless support to the command.”
She quoted the CP as extending his appreciation to traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, youth leaders and other stakeholders who have been of immense support to the command.
