The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has claimed it has uncovered foreigners plotting unconstitutional regime change and financing terrorism.

The Force has also declared a British citizen, Andrew Wynne, and a Nigerian wanted over alleged terrorism.

Andrew Wynne (also known as Andrew Povich or Drew Povey), a British national, is suspected of being a foreign mercenary sponsoring terrorism in the country, the police said.

The police further stated that their investigation into the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) revealed the extent of foreign involvement and that the NLC was unaware of the real identity of the individual using their premises.

Briefing journalists in Abuja, Force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed that Andrew had established a network of sleeper cells to overthrow the government and plunge the nation into chaos.
The police have also declared Lucky Ehis Obiyan, alleged to be a local coordinator for Andrew, wanted, and a global search for them has commenced in connection with this investigation.

According to him, “Investigations have identified a foreign mercenary, Andrew Wynne (also known as Andrew Povich or Drew Povey), a British national, who established a network of sleeper cells to topple the government and create chaos. He rented space at Labour House, Abuja, for an ‘Iva Valley Bookshop’ and established ‘STARS of Nations Schools’ to mask his subversive activities.

“Documentary evidence and confessions revealed that Andrew Wynne issued directives, monitored progress, and provided financial and operational guidance to achieve unconstitutional regime change in Nigeria. He mobilised and deployed several billions of naira to his Nigerian collaborators, urging them to incite the public to violently storm police facilities and military barracks, anticipating a bloodbath that would provoke international condemnation of the Nigerian government. These acts clearly violate the Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2011 and other relevant laws.

“Since the commencement of investigations, Andrew Wynne has fled the country. He and one of his local coordinators, Lucky Ehis Obiyan, have accordingly been declared wanted, and a global search for them has begun.”

Meanwhile, the police have prosecuted ten suspects allegedly involved in the plot with the aforementioned to court for their roles in the alleged conspiracy to overthrow the government.
The ten suspects arraigned yesterday on charges of Criminal Conspiracy, Terrorism Financing, Treasonable Felony, Subversion, and Cybercrime include Angel Love Innocent (female), Opaluwa Eleojo Simeon, Michael Tobitoba Adaramoye (aka Leni), Suleiman Yakubu, Buhari Lawal, Mosiu Sadiq, Abayomi Adeyemi, Abdulsalam Zubairu, Nuradeen Hamis, and Bashir Bello.

ACP Adejobi further clarified that the invitation extended to specific individuals within the NLC leadership is not related to ther advocacy rights or activities of the Union’s leadership but is aimed at clarifying the relationship between these individuals and Andrew Wynne, who, in addition to plotting unconstitutional regime change, is also financing terrorism in Nigeria.

“Following the interaction between the police investigation team and the NLC president, there is now a clearer understanding of the focus of the ongoing police investigation and the extent of Andrew Wynne’s subversive network and activities,” he said.
