The Bauchi State Police Command has called on residents of Mansur town in Alkaleri local government area who fled their homes over insecurity in neighbouring communities to return, assuring that the security situation is firmly under control.

Addressing journalists yesterday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said that despite recent security breaches in Gwana District, Mansur town remains calm and unaffected.

“There is no cause for alarm,” he stated, stressing that massive deployment of security personnel and enhanced weaponry have been strategically positioned to combat kidnapping and banditry in the affected areas.

The police spokesman said the intensified operations are being carried out through joint efforts involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other sister agencies.

He added that the operations are backed by the Bauchi State Government under Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, whose support, he noted, has strengthened the security architecture across the state.

According to him, the coordinated offensive against criminal elements is already yielding positive results, with improved surveillance and response capacity in flashpoint communities.

The Command emphasised that community cooperation remains critical in sustaining the gains recorded so far. Residents were urged to volunteer credible intelligence on suspicious movements or activities, with assurances that their identities would be protected.

“We passionately appeal to residents to return to their homes and resume normal activities. Adequate security measures have been put in place to guarantee their safety,” the police said.

The renewed assurance comes amid heightened security concerns in parts of Alkaleri LGA, where attacks in some neighbouring settlements had triggered the temporary displacement of residents. Authorities, however, insist that calm has been restored and security forces remain on high alert to prevent further breaches.
