The state’s police commissioner (CP) Muhammad Usain Gumel gave the warming yesterday in a statement made available to newsmen in Kano.

The CP who visited the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital to assess the security situation met with the management over the recent harassment of a medical doctor by an aggrieved family who lost a relation during birth.

A medical doctor at the said hospital, Shehu Usman Abdulwahab was assaulted by aggrieved relatives of a female patient who died in the process of delivery at the maternity section on Sunday. It was the timely appearance of the police at the scene that saved the situation.

The CP assured the hospital management that the Police Command is taking the matter very seriously and investigations have since commenced.
