Policemen Rescue Suspected Female Kidnapper From Mob In Kwara

But for the quick intervention of policemen from the ‘C’ Division, Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday, a suspected female kidnapper would been lynched by a mob at the popular Ipata Market in Ilorin metropolis.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the mob had beaten the suspect to a stupor before the policemen arrived at the scene and rescued her .

The suspect, simply identified as Khadija according to an eyewitness, was accosted by residents who suspected her involvement in a kidnap-related activity.

“She was beaten to stupor and reportedly found with four ATM cards in her possession as her mobile phone was also damaged by angry youths during the confrontation,” the eyewitness said.

The situation drew a large crowd in the area, as tension rose while residents demanded explanations regarding her activities.

LEADERSHIP gathered that policemen were later alerted to restore calm and take control of the situation.

As at the time of filing this report, it was not yet clear if Khadijah acted alone or had accomplices.

Community leaders have urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid taking laws into their own hands.

They emphasised the need to hand over suspects to law enforcement agencies for diligent investigation and prosecution.
