Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has reacted to a viral video making the rounds on social media in which her second daughter, Jane, was seen making a veiled allusion of her mother being sacrificed by her father for the ‘god of politics’, as a fabrication of desperate politicians.

Jane, in the video, had raised the alarm that she was being haunted, alleging that her life was also in danger of being sacrificed like the mother.

Governor Eno who maintained his resolve not to allow himself to be stampeded by political enemies of the state, stated this while fielding questions on the trending video from Journalists at Ibom Icon Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo, upon his arrival to attend the 60th birthday celebration of former deputy governor, Obong Nsima Ekere.

The governor was quick to dismiss what he described as a deliberately concocted tissue of lies, borne out of politics ahead of envisaged re-election in 2027.

This is political time,” the governor noted, saying the major aim of the obvious political stunt, was to blackmail and distract him to lose focus on the ongoing implementation of the ARISE Agenda blueprint of his administration.

He vowed not succumb to such character assassination ploy while expressing total commitment to delivering on the mandate given to him by the Akwa Ibom State electorate in 2023.

“We are in political times, so you should expect more of that. My family is intact, and you can see everyone here with me”, the governor, who attended the ceremony with his entire family said.

“The event we are talking about happened immediately my wife passed on, and that was last year. So why is it surfacing and trending now? Why is it in the eve of the second year anniversary that we are celebrating the milestone that we have achieved?

“This teaches me that there are detractors around. My family is intact. You can see that Jane, herself is here; that’s Helen, and her husband; so we have a good family.

“The pressure on the kids when they lose a loved one could be traumatic and we must know that. All I can appeal to the public is, there shouldn’t bring back sad memories. It is enough that I have lost my wife, and I pray that they allow her peaceful soul to rest in peace.

“I can’t be distracted. I remain focused, and I will continue to serve Akwa Ibom people. I don’t wish what happened to me should happen to anyone. So, to the people throwing these around, if that is what they wish for themselves, I wish them luck”.

Governor Eno congratulated the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on his 60th birthday celebration.

He prayed God to continue to strengthen the celebrant, imbue him with long life, good health and wisdom to continue with his service to the state and the nation.
