The leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), North East zone has said the major challenges affecting economic development and growth in Nigeria is ineffective and inefficient financial resource management.

The group through its organising secretary, Ambassador Ibrahim Dangata Inuwa, made the observation during a press conference in Abuja and copy of the text made available to newsmen in Kaduna. He hailed Admiral K. M. Bushi following his recent book titled: “Fundamentals of Nigerian public finance and accounting”, stressing that there is no better time for the unveiling of the book than now because of the dwindling revenue in the country.

Inuwa said the book would contribute immensely to the society and the entire body of knowledge in Nigeria, adding that one of the “major challenges affecting economic development and growth in Nigeria is ineffective and inefficient financial resource management”.

The youth group also stressed that Nigeria is blessed with abundant mineral resources but there is nothing much to show due to lack of effective management of revenue generated from exploration and exploitation of those resources.
