A tall building said to be proposed for use by a popular eatery, Item7, caved in under torrential rainfall that was preceded by rainstorms in the Dugbe area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital on Sunday night.

An X (formerly Twitter) user, @Arugboboisi_Sam, who shared the information, said that the debris from the collapsed structure blocked one lane of the ever-busy Dugbe–Mokola Road in Ibadan.

The blockage posed a serious danger to motorists and road users on Sunday night.

Emergency responders were immediately moved to the scene of the collapsed building, working tirelessly to evacuate the rubble and clear the obstruction on the road.

“We are urging everyone plying the Dugbe–Mokola axis from this evening till tomorrow morning to slow down, drive with caution, and stay alert for diversions or emergency activity on the road,” he wrote.

LEADERSHIP gathered on Monday that while a lane on the Dugbe-Mokola road was closed for clearing, the other lane of the dualized road was opened for commuters to use as workers resumed for work.
