Already, some foreign sponsors have indicated interest in participating in the Port Harcourt annual comedy show, ‘Mayor of Pitakwa,’ which is scheduled to be held on Easter Monday, 2026.

The promoter of the annual comedy show, Mr Baba Jornsen, popularly known as ‘KO Baba’, disclosed this in Port Harcourt at the unveiling of the event’s logo and headline sponsor, Sollong, a foreign android phone brand.

Jornsen, who is also a comedian and businessman, stated that the foreign sponsors have indicated interest in using the show to reach the youth of the Niger Delta region.

Insisting that he was out to put Port Harcourt on the global map with comedy, the comedy show organiser said he deploys local talents to occupy at least 80 per cent of the comedians featured in ‘Mayor of Pitakwa’ shows every year.

He said: “My desire is to promote local content and show that you must not have to move to Lagos as the only way to succeed in the entertainment industry.

It makes the local talents better and bigger. We want to show that your environment cannot limit you. It is you who can limit yourself.

“We want to try many new things, especially streaming to 12 cities, a two-day event, and need to create things beyond comedy. We want to dare the impossible. We will be presenting sponsors as we go till close to the event.”
