Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has been officially designated as the host city for the Playoffs and Final Four of the 2025 Nigeria Basketball Premier League (NBPL) season. This announcement was made in a communiqué from the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), addressed to all participating clubs and relevant stakeholders.
The communiqué, jointly signed by Babatunde Ogunade, Chairman of the Men’s Premier League, and Amina O. Amanchi, Secretary General of the NBBF, confirmed that the League Management Committee received and approved a sole bid from Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club to host the Final Eight Playoffs and Final Four.
This marks the third consecutive year Rivers State will host this crucial stage of the league, having also successfully held the finals in 2023 and 2024.
The Final Eight Playoffs are set to kick off with the arrival of the participating teams on 26th October, with matches scheduled to take place from 27th October to 2nd November. Teams are expected to depart on 3rd November.
The competition will adopt a round-robin format, wherein all eight teams will compete against each of the other seven teams. The top four teams will then qualify for the Final Four, which is slated to take place from 20th to 24th November. All matches will be hosted at the Indoor Basketball Court, located at #59 Niger Street, Port Harcourt Township.
It is worth noting that Rivers Hoopers are the reigning NBPL champions, aiming to secure their third consecutive title after clinching the championship on home soil in both 2023 and 2024.
