A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, has called on Nigerians to pray for the growth and development of the country.
While rejoicing with the people of Osun on the Christmas celebration, Babayemi implored them to continue to live peaceably among themselves.
He urged Christians across Nigeria and beyond to always strive to be Christ-like in their engagements with other religious adherents.
This, according to him, would continue to engender the needed peace in the society, “a development that will continue to be a catalyst for the desired growth in every sector.”
Babayemi, in his Christmas message to the people as issued by his media office, maintained that there was the need for Christians to emulate the deeds of Jesus Christ.
“The values and the teachings embedded in the lowly birth of Jesus Christ must be meaningful in our lives. This should be beyond the known merriment,” he stressed.
He further implored them to continue to work and pray for the growth and development of mankind and the society, adding that “prayer alone can’t do it. We must put in extra efforts for our society to work.”
While calling for a moderate celebration, Babayemi appealed to motorists and other road users to be mindful of the way they would be going about during and after the yuletide season.
