A prominent leader of the Tijaniyya Islamic sect, Sheikh Abubakar Sadiq, has called on Nigerians to pray for President Bola Tinubu as the country grapples with skyrocketing prices and widespread economic hardship.
Speaking yesterday, Sheikh Sadiq expressed deep concern over the current state of affairs, stating that citizens are feeling discouraged and overwhelmed by the sharp increase in the cost of living.

“What is happening in Nigeria now is very painful. The price of everything has gone up, and people are feeling the weight. It doesn’t matter if you are male or female, young or old; everyone is discouraged,” Sheikh Sadiq said.
He emphasised the need for collective prayer, asking for divine intervention to guide the President and give him the wisdom to navigate the challenging times.

The Islamic leader highlighted the importance of patience and unity, urging Nigerians to pray for Tinubu’s success in governing the country and the strength to endure the difficult period.

“We must be sincere with ourselves and pray for God to assist us in finding a way out of this crisis.
We pray Allah grants the President wisdom to handle the situation effectively,” he added.
Sheikh Sadiq also took the opportunity to express condolences for the Muslims who lost their lives during the recent Eid Maulud celebrations in Kaduna.

“We pray for those who died while celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). May their souls rest in Al-Jannah, and may God forgive all their sins,” he said.

The Tijaniyya leader condemned any opposition to Eid Maulud’s celebration, affirming the event’s religious significance.

“Anyone challenging the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday is only embarrassing themselves. Allah loves those who love His Prophet, and failing to do so is to one’s detriment,” he concluded.
Sheikh Sadiq, however, called on the Muslim community to come together and embrace the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s life, urging unity and devotion as the nation seeks a way forward.
