It’s hot, it’s humid, and you’re pregnant. True, that can be a recipe for misery, but there are ways to cope such as using loose-fitting clothing at all times.
The truth is that heat and humidity, while unpleasant for most people, take a greater toll on pregnant women.

When you’re pregnant, your body temperature is already a bit higher than normal, so added heat from the outside temperature is bound to make you feel uncomfortable.
Pregnant women already have some degree of heat intolerance, says Dr. Sunday Kingsley, who advised moms-to-be to pay attention to the heat warnings said a ‘cool, damp washcloth applied to the back of your neck, your forehead, or the top of your head is also a good way to keep your body temperature down’.

According to him, ‘If you are one of these moms-to-be, you are undoubtedly eager to welcome your new bundle of joy to the family. But as you know all too well, being pregnant in the hottest and brightest is no walk in the park. In fact, you may be thinking that the delivery date cannot come soon enough.
It’s not just that it’s hotter outside, but pregnant women are hotter too: In the first trimester, the progesterone hormone increases body temperature.
Scorching summers can also cause pregnant women to overheat more easily. Dehydration is common in the summer months, and we often see patients in triage with preterm contractions due to spending time outside.

We are aware that maintaining your personal style at various stages of pregnancy can be even more challenging. But that doesn’t mean fashion lovers have to sit out an entire season (or longer). It is absolutely possible to create great-looking maternity outfits without having to purchase an entirely new wardrobe of oversized items. Yes, comfort is still key, but that no longer means sticking solely to baggy pants and tent dresses.
