Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his recent comments suggesting that democracy has collapsed in Nigeria.

In a statement posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Bwala described Obi as a “failed politician” attempting to “re-define democracy.”

He questioned Obi’s understanding of democratic principles and dismissed his record in political activism.

“Does he even know the meaning of democracy? When people were fighting for democracy, Gregory was buying and selling,” Bwala wrote, apparently referring to Obi’s history as a businessman.
Bwala further claimed that Obi has no track record of democratic activism “from his school days to date,” alleging instead that his influence stems from “instigating hate speech and vitriol.”

“Talk is cheap,” he concluded.
