The Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has urged players of Kwara United Football Club to maintain focus and determination as they prepare for the final of the 2025 President Federation Cup against Abakaliki FC.
The pivotal match is scheduled for Saturday, 28th June, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.
Speaking during a royal visit from the team at his palace in Ilorin, Kwara State, the Emir expressed his full support for the club’s mission to secure a major national trophy for Kwara State. “I was once an official of Shooting Stars and the Nigeria Football Federation. I understand the significance of a match like this. Prepare well, remain focused, and stay united. We will continue to pray for your success,” the Emir remarked.
He praised the team’s efforts thus far and highlighted the necessity of discipline, unity, and hard work, stressing that their victory would bring immense pride to the entire Ilorin Emirate and the state.
Earlier, Abdullahi Thuraya, chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, noted that the royal blessings from the Emir serve as a consistent source of motivation for the team. He reaffirmed that should the team win in Lagos, the palace would be their first stop to present the trophy in gratitude.
Justice Idris Haroon, a former Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, led a special prayer session for the team at the Emir’s request.
