The Yobe State governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, said President Muhammadu Buhari will commission the multi-billion-naira Maternal and Childcare Health Complex started and completed by his administration.
Towards this, Buni paid an unscheduled inspection visit to the complex located at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu.
A statement issued by the director general, Press Affairs and Media, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, said Governor Buni, while inspecting the project expressed satisfaction that the structure was 100 per cent completed.
Mohammed further said the project, which is the biggest Maternal and Childcare Health Complex in Nigeria, was penciled for inauguration by President Muhammadu Buhari in no time.
“His Excellency, Hon Mai Mala Buni holds the project dear to his heart to check the menace of maternal and child mortality and morbidity in the state.”
He further explained that the project is part of the holistic approach to providing accessible and affordable healthcare to the people of Yobe state.
The equipping of the complex has commenced with office equipment and will be completed soon.
The Buni administration also introduced the Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (YOCHMA) and Yobe Drugs Management Agency (YODMA) to provide adequate and affordable healthcare delivery to the people.
This is in addition to the functional Primary Healthcare centers established in 138 out of 178 political wards across the state.
The governor expressed the commitment of his administration to moving healthcare development to an appreciable standard in the state.
