President Bola Ahmed Tinubu last week received Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Yobe State, Baba Malam Wali at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he congratulated the party on the successful conduct of its governorship primary election and reaffirmed his confidence in the party’s leadership in the state.

During the meeting, President Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the healthy political developments in Yobe State ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the successful APC primary as a demonstration of the party’s unity, discipline and internal democracy.

According to a statement from the director general Press Affairs and media to the Governor, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed said the President commended Buni and other APC stakeholders for conducting a peaceful and credible primary election that produced Baba Malam Wali as the party’s governorship candidate.

He described Governor Buni as a political strategist whose experience and leadership have continued to strengthen the APC, saying his contributions remain invaluable to the growth and stability of the party.

“With Governor Buni at the helm of affairs, I have no doubt that Yobe State will continue to remain firmly in the APC fold,” the President said.

Congratulating the party’s governorship candidate, Tinubu described Baba Malam Wali as a seasoned bureaucrat with extensive experience in public service.

“I am confident that you will deploy your wealth of experience to sustain and build on the achievements of the Buni administration in education, healthcare, road infrastructure, agricultural development and other critical sectors,” the President said.

Governor Buni thanked President Tinubu for receiving the delegation and expressed appreciation for the Federal Government’s continued support to Yobe State.

He described Baba Malam Wali as a competent administrator who has been part of the state’s governance structure for many years.

“He has been part of the system for a long time. He understands our vision and is fully prepared for the responsibility ahead.

“His emergence guarantees continuity without losing momentum,” Governor Buni said.

The governor also conveyed the appreciation of the government and people of Yobe State to President Tinubu for the support of the Tinubu administration towards improving infrastructure, security, agriculture and other development programmes across the state.
