Senior special assistant on humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation to the president, Hon. Delu Bulus Yakubu, has promised the federal government will continue to empower the underprivileged and ensure a positive impact on the grassroots.

She said the support for the underprivileged is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which insists that no one will be left behind in the development scheme for positive development.

Yakubu spoke yesterday at the opening of a three-day National Medical Outreach event organised by SAM Empowerment Foundation for the most vulnerable residents at Piwoyi, an outskirt of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.

Speaking on a theme titled: Bringing Quality Healthcare to the Less Privileged Through Renewed Hope Agenda,” Delu Yakubu said, “I have been involved in humanitarian efforts through the widely recognised Diligence Foundation for over two decades, and I disclosed this new position as a continuation of her life’s work.

“I’ve spent the last 20 years immersed in humanitarian work. Being at this office right now is a divine appointment from above; it is not accidental. We aim to help people in need and serve God and humanity.

She added that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is in line with emphasis on inclusivity and ensuring no one is left behind.

She said, “This set of people cannot go to a certain level, so it’s essential for me to go down to the grassroots to touch the lives of the poorest poor.

“I will extend humanitarian efforts across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, as the current initiatives mark the beginning of this extensive outreach,”

Delu Yakubu also announced her plans to reach the less privileged, citing honours from Turkey and Russia as evidence of his significant contributions.

She said, “As the president’s humanitarian assistant, I promise you that even though I no longer oversee the Diligence Foundation directly, my major goal is still to make a big difference and make  sure we reach those in need.

In addition to health screenings, drug distribution, and scholarships for the top students in the FCT, the event culminated with distributing food items to individuals with special needs.

Some top government functionaries who attended the event included the minister of education, Prof Mamman Tahir, the minister of state for agriculture, Senator Sabi Abdullahi, and the commissioner for refugees commission, Alhaji Tijjani Aliyu.
