Third Republic president of the senate and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ameh Ebute, has advised president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to prioritise competence, track records of service as well as integrity in the formation of his cabinet.
Ebute, who gave the advice in response to questions at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja yesterday, added that Nigerians were lucky to have voted Tinubu as their next president.
The former pro-chancellor and chairman of the Governing Council of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Ebute said he knew Tinubu to be a result oriented politician who always put square pegs in square holes, hence the certainty of bringing fertile minds as his consummate team is not in doubt.
Ebute expressed belief in the determination and willingness of Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu to reform agriculture and solid minerals to minimise emphasis and over dependence on oil as the major source of revenue, adding that security of lives and property of all would also be uppermost in his renewed hope of governance.
Ebute, however, appealed to
Nigerians to encourage the incoming administration with prayers and unflinching support to enable it deliver on mandate and provide dividends of democracy which will guarantee unhindered unity and development of the country.
The two-time senator also advised the president-elect to be weary of double faced individuals who specialise in rumour mongering and have positioned themselves as friends to be feeding him with half baked truth and unreliable information aimed at pulling down supposed developmental ideas that could be of help to his government but not accessible to him.
He prayed to God to give him the needed wisdom, sound health, virile mind and enablement to pilot the affairs of Nigeria to an enviable heights that generation even yet unborn will be proud of to the glory of God.
