Pro-Tinubu/Shettima Group Lauds Oyetola, NIMASA DG For Commitment To Maritime Agenda

A group known as Tinubu/Shettima Renewed Hope Advocate, has lauded the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and the Director General of Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Bashir Jamoh, over the reforms and commitment to deliver the President’s maritime agenda.

The Tinubu/Shettima Renewed Hope Advocate gave both the Minister and the NIMASA boss the pat on the back in a statement signed in Abuja by its coordinator, Dame Nduka Chinomso.

The Advocates, therefore, warned people it called faceless groups to stop distracting Dr Jamoh from the onerous task, which he was doing with a touch of the midas, through their spurious and unfounded allegations.

They particularly dismissed as baseless and unfounded allegations by a so-called UK group against Jamoh, that he be suspended from office immediately, and forensic audit carried out on the financial activities of NIMASA.

The advocates wondered why the surreptitious group was mischievously recommending that a panel be set up to look into the accounts of NIMASA CABOTAGE 2% SURCHAGE account Number 56595 with Access Bank to ascertain reasons why NIMASA was still using Commercial Banks to receive funds instead of the TSA with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The group also condemned in entirety the recommendation by the unknown UK group that Dr. Jamoh be prosecuted for financial crimes and money laundering as established by their investigations.

“We view this as the height of mischief by the so-called UK group considering the steering qualities and leadership acumen of the NIMASA DG. For the avoidances of doubt, the Director-General has welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s creation of Marine and Blue Economy Ministry and keyed into the vision for the actualisation of the agenda for the sector.

“Jamoh had while expressing his commitments said the creation of this ‘long overdue ministry will give a huge boost to plans and programmes the President intends to deploy to take Nigeria out of its economic doldrums. He (DG) noted that: ‘The blue economy is the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and jobs while preserving the health of the ocean ecosystem. Blue Economy Activities include Maritime shipping, Fishing & aquaculture, Coastal tourism, Renewable energy, Water desalination, Undersea cabling, Seabed extractive industries & deep sea mining, Marine genetic resources and Biotechnology. In the face of our dwindling economic fortunes, and more importantly, to support the diversification of the economy. Efficient management and sustainable exploitation of the marine resources in our seas and oceans, no doubt, provide a veritable tool for Economic Growth.’

“Now calling for his removal or just raising unfounded allegations amounts to sabotage of the agenda of the Tinubu agenda which we will resist. We urge those behind this diabolic plans to desist forthwith as they would be seen as enemies of Nigerians,” the Advocates added.
