LEADERSHIP reliably gathered that the reconstruction of Numan-Jalingo dilapidated 103 kilometer road was awarded to DEUX Project Nig. Ltd in.2017 by former President Muhammadu Buhari, while Numan is in Adamawa State, Jalingo is the capital of Taraba State.
Our correspondent also gathered that the road contract sum as at 2017 was N11billion while the completion period was 20 months.
The travellers who angrily expressed frustration over the condition of the 103 kilometer highway said apart from the road being impassable, criminals have taken advantage of the poor condition of the road to be robbing, kidnapping and snatching items on the road.
The travellers wandered why the contractor handling the road construction project has delayed its completion since 2017.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP at Abare village in Lau local government area which is located in Taraba State, Mallam Idris Haruna, a motorist while revealing his ordeal on the road said the road is nearly impassable, and urged President Tinubu to urgently probe the award of the contract to ascertain what happened to the funds.
