In a significant transition for Nigeria’s maritime education, Professor Oluwafemi Flora has officially assumed office as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, Delta State.
Prof Flora succeeds Professor Emmanuel Adigho, who bows out after a successful tenure.
The handover ceremony, attended by principal officers of the university, faculty members, students, and invited dignitaries, marked a new chapter for the institution dedicated to nurturing maritime professionals.
Professor Flora, whose appointment was recently announced, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to lead NMU.
In her inaugural address, she acknowledged the strides made under Professor Adigho’s leadership and outlined her vision for the university’s future.
She pledged to enhance academic excellence, foster innovative research, strengthen industry partnerships, and improve students welfare.
Outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Adigho, in his farewell remarks, expressed appreciation for the support he received during his time at the helm.
