The President and Founder of MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has donated a two-storey building to Alliance Francaise in Kano.
Prof. Gwarzo, who announced the donation on Thursday, said the edifice, which is located at Ahmadiyya Junction along Airport Road in Kano metropolis, would serve as the permanent office of the organisation.
He explained that the gesture was part of his effort to ensure the organisation has a permanent office of its own instead of staying in rented offices, moving from one place to another.
He said it was unfortunate that Alliance Francaise, which has been in Kano for over three decades, could not boast of its own permanent office.
He explained that the decision to donate the building was informed by his strong desire to promote bilingual studies, noting that the building has been equipped with the necessary facilities, including furniture and solar power.
He said the generous donation was also aimed at replicating the good gesture of the Lagos-based businessman, Chief Mike Adenuga, who also donated a building to Alliance Francaise in Lagos.
Prof. Gwarzo expressed hope that the gesture would go a long way in promoting the teaching of French language in Kano as many people will have the opportunity to learn the French language.
The Director of Alliance Francaise in Kano, Ali Dabo, appreciated Prof. Gwarzo for donating the building in addition to providing furniture and solar power to facility.
