A former Nigerian Ambassador to Austria, Prof. Jerry Ugokwe, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his judicious selection of ministers and other political appointments.
In a recent statement in Abuja yesterday, Prof. Ugokwe highlighted that many of the appointees are well-suited for their roles, describing them as “square pegs in square holes.”
Prof. Ugokwe emphasised the significance of these appointments, suggesting that the team’s collective competence and experience will contribute to addressing the challenges faced by Nigerians.
He expressed his appreciation for President Tinubu’s efforts in assembling a team that combines both technocrats and seasoned politicians, who have demonstrated their capabilities in their respective fields and past leadership roles.
Prof. Ugokwe further extended his commendation to the National Assembly for efficiently completing the confirmation process for the appointed officials.
According to him, “I join well-meaning Nigerians to commend my friend and brother, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his choice of ministers and the National Assembly for quickly concluding the confirmation process.
“The team is obviously a combination of technocrats and sound-minded politicians who have distinguished themselves in their chosen professions and previous political leadership and are now saddled with greater responsibilities at the national level”.
He further said the blend of seasoned professionals and skilled politicians in the new cabinet is believed to be a strategic move by President Tinubu, showcasing his commitment to effective governance and addressing the country’s pressing issues.
